我不是学术大牛，只是普通的MLE调参侠。在DIY petition（已获批）的时候疯狂找推荐人，我试过的方式有给在找Phd的教授发邮件（通常在招Phd的AP是新入校的，比老登更好要推荐信）。 我也在 LinkedIn 上联系一些 AP 教授，然后还充值了会员，但是都是没有回复的。
难得收到回复的就说他从来不给没有合作过的人写推荐信，或者他说每天收到几十封需要推荐信的，忙不过来。就算我说了可以给Draft也不愿意写，把自己当作什么大牛把推荐信当成什么宝贝一样。 说实话我愿意让你写推荐信就是看得起你的，要不然我找你干什么？自恃清高😠
后来我尝试直接与我发paper的 Chair member 进行联系，并附上我了的 Google Scholar和CV。 这种方法真的有用并且高效我个人按照以下模版估计发送了20封邮件，收到回复的有4位，愿意写的有2位。
Subject: Recommendation Letter Request for NIW Petition

I am reaching out to inquire if you would be willing to write me a recommendation letter to support my application for the National Interest Waiver (NIW). As you are well aware, the NIW application process requires strong letters of support from respected figures in the field, attesting to the applicant’s contributions and their impact on the field at large. Given your esteemed position and familiarity with my work, I believe your endorsement would carry significant weight.

然后我跟他说了我的诉求之后，他答应我写推荐信。
我说 OK，谢谢他。然后他跟我说了一句让我印象最为深刻的一句话把我恶心坏了：
so I am waiting for the letter draft
and you are waiting for ICE in your drinks
后来我推荐信发给他之后，他最后再也没有回复过。
然后像刚才我说的这种情况，大家一定不要把它当作最后的救命稻草。
一定要多找几个人，群发邮件，一封邮件，没有任何成本。
不要觉得尴尬，你跟他永远都不会见面，也不会有任何联系。
对于推荐信这个事情来说，他如果真的愿意帮你，这件事情对他根本就花不了他太多的时间成本。
从我建立这个平台开始，我就一直在思考这个问题。推荐信，这是一个用户痛点。独立推荐人--非同校非同单位，非Co-Author即为独立推荐人。 除了我上面说的找AP教授以外，还可以找引用了你文章的人。这种背景其实我认为比找教授更好！因为他们引用了你的文章更好的说明对你的学术贡献有积极的认可，并且在Petition Letter 提到Notable Citation的时候敷上该作者的推荐信更具有说服力。
正如你进入这个平台想要申请NIW，需要背景提升。我们这里发文一直都有引用的保障，我每发一篇新的文章就会去引用前面的文章，那么你的独立推荐人是不是就来了呢？我亲爱的朋友们！
